Equine Fascia and Trauma Release
Domesticated horses, unlike their wild cousins sadly no longer effectively shake off the traumas they have experienced...it is almost as if they have become numb. This vastly impacts their connective tissue.
Connective tissue, more recently known as fascia and only in recent years rediscovered as the most important organ of the body, covers every muscle, surrounds the organs, surrounds us beneath our skin like a wet suit, binds 600 muscles together in specific lines and supports the spinal structure. It is highly innervated, contains a unique cellular structure and seems to hold the key receptors to stress hormones as well as others. How we saw the body in modern western medicine is fast being challenged in the fields of applied anatomy and physiology, especially in the science of biomechanics and in the practise of bodywork.
In this workshop horse owners and therapists alike will be taught the anatomy and biokinetic philosophy of Fascia, the Fascia Trains as discovered by the team led by Vibeke Elbrond at the University of Copenhagen and how to release the tremor mechanism of the horse (Trauma Release Exercises).
An in depth look at scarring and the health of the hyaluronic acid(the fluid of the connective tissue) will be explored, as well as muscle activation to realign the rider in their own body.
